INCEPTION DREAMS

MultimediaDreams invite new ways of thinking. A 2010 movie by Christopher Nolan lived up to its name – Inception – as it introduced the concept of subconscious thought form projection into the mainstream.  What was part of the collective unconscious is becoming conscious as increasing numbers of people awaken to the multidimensional worlds of life and consciousness. This awakening comes as a result of technology.  With the help of computers, we can now see representations of what someone is thinking rather than imagining what they meant.  This new level of communication is producing shifts in our consciousness worth noting and recording. INCEPTION DREAMS capture the ways technology is entering into our dreamstate.  For instance, Avatar in tech-worlds allow people to represent themselves online in whatever way they choose.  It is often referred to as a “second life”.  How does that life affect our dreams?

Perhaps the characters or scenes from a movie, like AVATAR or HarryPotter, have entered your dreams.  Be it vampires and space aliens or video game characters and actors, when technologically-driven elements appear in our dreams an inception has taken place.  A recent study by Jayne Gackenbach at Grant MacEwan University in Canada suggests that gamers have a better chance at controlling their dreams than non-gamers.  In an interview, she said, “if you’re spending hours a day in a virtual reality, if nothing else it’s practice.  Gamers are used to controlling their game environments, so that can translate into dreams”. Record your INCEPTION DREAMS and describe what they are linked to here.

    The Dream

The dream experience is in black and white and grey.
It is like an Escher drawing put into 3D.  I become lucid and slowly realize a dream is going on.  At first it looks like a video test pattern image, like the night sky with stars, but the lights are in semi symmetrical shapes.  They move.
This dream is about my son playing video games.  As it progresses, I learn more.  Much of it is auditory.  I ask questions and receive responses.

Kiah is with Bryon, a friend, in the classroom.  They are playing a game.
There is a girl who is not present who is creating a game and Bryon has brought it for Kiah to play.  As he plays, they are learning how he thinks, what he likes, dislikes, how he strategizes.  So they can incoporate this into the game so others will like it as well.

    I was unaware of this.

I ask Bryon if this is actually happening.  He says the girl is working on a game.

Where is she from, who does she work for? A university or a corporation?
I never get the answer.  I keep hoping a university.

As the reality sinks in, I realize they are patterning Kie's thinking patterns.  This means whoever has the technology will have Kie's thinking patterns at their disposal.  A new kind of Frankenstein.  If they sell the technology to others in a short time there can be many video games, some likely for the misnomered mature set that will be patterned on his thinking.

    How will this affect him?

I am frightened.  I tell Bryon since Ki is 14 and a minor they could have serious legal considerations in neglecting to receive parental consent.

The pendulum swings.  It is a two-edged sword.  Kie will also know how others think.  He will be able to communicate with them, influence them, direct them.  They may become better reasoners for it.

It will depend upon Kie.  His strength of mind.

The significance of this dream to my life:

This dream is a combination of the movie Pi which I watched Saturday while ill with a respiratory invasion and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which I watched Monday.  Pi was amazing and revelatory. Sunshine was frightening and misguided.  Both fit in perfectly with how the mind can be altered by the body/brain.  I am also reading Born to Believe about the nature of evolutionary brain development and concepts of belief and beyond.  This is relevant to the dream's meaning for me.

In interpreting this dream in the Universal Language of Mind, a system of translation for dream images researched and developed at the School of Metaphysics in the USA, Hezekiah, being my son, symbolizes a maturing subconscious idea that I have brought into my consciousness.  This idea is the evolution of Intuitive spiritual man in my existence.

The setting of the dream occurs in the emotional level of consciousness.  It reveals how the emotions act in subconscious mind and react in the physical level of consciousness.  There are parts of the brain influenced by a subconscious understanding of mindfulness (Bryon's dharmic quality) that I  am now awakening to.  I want this to be about and for my learning yet am uncertain because I was unconscious when the choices were made.  This links to my ability to expect the best outcome concerning my physical body/health.

I see this linked to my current physical distress, illness.  The respiratory ailment is acute and it reminds me of childhood occurrences in the spring and fall that I experienced between the ages of 7-12.  I recognize the resonance of this with my son's age and the link to kundalini, the stirring of creative energies.  I have an opportunity to assess the value of how I have been using the brain to produce understanding.

The dream tells me I am identifying new levels of how intuition registers in the brain.  I can observe what is happening yet refuse to take responsibility for it.  This irresponsibility, this misuse of freedom, has produced the disease in my body.  Fear is a motivator here that brings karmic repercussions, for mind works according to universal law, whether my own or others.

The key here is in what Hezekiah represents in my consciousness.  The more I develop Spirit, the more I study its workings through my mind, the more channels that can be opened for me.  The stronger my will, the greater my capacity to reason.  Reasoning produces intuition, this I understand.  The dream reminds me that intuition is dependent upon harmonizing with Universal Law while the waking mind resting in the middle, between the two extremes.

My subconscious mind has integrated pieces of the movies into the dream message, which helps me recall the dreams which have that sickly stupor to them where it is difficult to distinguish awake from asleep.  It is a perpetual state of reverie where lucidity comes easy and the reasoning presence is weakened by the sickness in the body.  Oddly enough, both movies deal with mind-brain themes.  The protagonist in Pi ends up piercing his brain and the one in Eternal Sunshine opts for a high-tech memory erase.  These do not occur in my dream, rather they contribute to the content of the dream.  In the end, the arrangement of the images in my dream offer me insight into the genetic factors present in this illness and the emotional component that drive them.  •

A couple nights ago a book I read influenced my dream real strongly. Before I slept, I read from Iran Awakening, the autobiography of Shirin Ebadi. It’s about her experience of the Islamic revolution, and fighting for children’s and women’s rights in Iran. In my dream it was like being in Iran during one of the mass executions.

    DREAM

I was outside a building that was kind of white adobe-looking by a dusty street, in a city. It was sunny. It looked like a foreign country. Muslim extremists had taken over and were about to execute a large group of people. A small group including me was to be executed later, because we were especially singled out for some reason. I was thinking of how to get out of this.

    Dream Interpretation

I know this page is for more modern virtual reality stuff, but this was such a good example of an inception from exposing myself to someone else’s story, I’m sending it in. My dream helped me understand what I read more, because I experienced it! And of course, it showed me the extreme, rigid parts of myself. In other dreams, these rigid parts of me are shown as Amish men who have become president.

I don’t remember the details, but I know I had a dream composed of scenes from the movie Avatar.

In waking life, before I went to sleep, I watched the movie Avatar, with the intention of dreaming about it.

This is the biggest inception dream I ever had, and it’s my first lucid dream. I dreamed this a few days after I saw the movie Waking Life, which is about lucid dreaming. Parts of the dream were like the movie, and I tried to practice what I learned from the movie after I realized I was dreaming.

    THE DREAM

The earliest part I remember is I was outside at a place where there was a big, big wagon pulled by horses and driven by a large Western woman, and it was night and the wagon had been parked in this old wood building like a giant barn. I remember there were lots of big supplies and equipment in there that the wagon had carried. I was lying there somewhere sleeping and I got up.

I went to another place either with the wagon or on foot. I went into a building and it was like a restaurant with a counter/bar. There were people sitting inside. There was something unusual about the people. I remember an older woman and a black guy with a very wrinkly puckered face and other people. I started to realize I was dreaming! I talked to a nice older woman with small blue eyes and silvery hair and she said that this place was a place I was experiencing with my inner discernment instead of my outer discernment. I talked to some other people too. I wondered if they were real people or what kind of influence I could have on them. I remember leaving that building and going outside in the night, and being on a hill.

There were people outside nearby, and I walked over to this place where they were discussing deep stuff, and maybe people were reading poetry. I went behind a big piece of junk there and listened. Then I think I came out and talked to those people some.

I remember at some point wanting to wake up out of the dream but not knowing how to do it. I also remember thinking this was pretty neat. I remember at one point lying down to sleep and getting back up, but it was still a dream. I was thinking I needed to go to sleep and then I would wake up. When I was talking to the black guy at the counter, I remember looking at my watch and there was gray smoky mist on it and floating off of it and I couldn’t read it. And I remember later my watch looked like it was broken and I couldn’t see the numbers. I remembered that in Waking Life a guy was dreaming in the whole movie and it said if you flip light switches and they don’t work, that means you’re dreaming. Well, I went to another building, like a big house, and I flipped some switches and some of them did work, so I guess that’s not true.

I remember some of the same people that were in the restaurant-looking place walked inside in a line and started hanging out there. Then there were a lot of other people in the building, in the house, and I thought that if these are aspects of me, maybe I can change myself somehow by helping them. So I started telling people about classes in the school of metaphysics or something to do with spiritual growth, and I tried to yell at people and get them excited, but that didn’t really work very well.

Then later was the weirdest part. I was in a well-lit room in the house that I think was in the upstairs, and I was told that I was in a “loop” and they were going to get me out of it. “Loop”–I think that was the name for the whole experience of going around being stuck in a dream. I think there were others who did it too. There was a sort of thing that looked like a fake cartoon machine that had an arrow or some indication of where it spit out a product that said YOURSELF in big capital letters, and it had lines that crossed and combined around in a curvy way. That was the thing they were going to do. And I asked someone about it and he said something about punishment, that sometimes there is a need for punishment, and at the time it made sense and I just accepted it. I remember thinking I would type out the dream when I got up, so it wouldn’t take so long to handwrite. I don’t remember now what happened next, except that I had another dream that was just a dream.

    Dream Interpretation

So, just like the movie, I was lucid dreaming and I couldn’t wake up. In the movie, a guy said that in dreams you couldn’t read small numbers, and he said in dreams that light switches don’t work. And like the movie, there were people talking about deep stuff.
The other amazing thing about this dream is I was red-eye tired that night, then I talked to someone on the phone and got real happy and lost the tiredness, then I only slept for two hours at most, and woke up feeling great.

I was so amazed that I had a lucid dream. One of my teachers said the punishment part was about cause and effect. This dream happened at a time when I was very happy and looked forward to each day. I think this happiness about life is also part of why I had a lucid dream, because there’s no desire to vacate or go unconscious, just a desire to keep being awake and enjoy life.

    My dream:
I watched the Avatar movie with my classmates. That night after the viewing of the movie, my dream included several scenes from the movie Avatar.

In the early hours of the morning, I dreamt:

I was attempting to pull down a grid from the sky, and was finding it difficult. So I seek the assistance of others. My self and several people at the College of Metaphysics were able to pull down a grid from the sky. When it came down we realized that it was the Christ Consciousness grid that we had brought to earth. It was revealed that the grid was brought to earth so that it can be the same below as it is above.

The significance of this dream to my life:
This dream occurred the night following the viewing of the movie Avatar. The movie has several scenes where the main characters were flying around in the sky or landing on the planet while on the back of a large animal. The movie encouraged thoughts within me regarding the levels of mind. Following the viewing of the movie, I journaled my thoughts before going to sleep. The movie stimulated a desire to receive insight regarding the divisions of mind.

As well as viewing the movie Avatar at the end of the day, throughout that day I often had my thoughts on God. I was walking from the barn with love in my heart for all humanity, and reflecting upon my place in the scheme of things. I felt that I have a personal relationship with God. Since my arrival at the College, the relationship has become stronger. The College campus is such a sacred place; and with so many people of like mind, I am able to keep a still mind for longer periods, throughout the day.

I have often asked, during meditation, to see the face of God; recently I received an image, it was my own face. The dream following the viewing of the Avatar movie indicates my awareness of parts of Self that is closest to the Creator.
