Sometimes we participate in our dreams, sometimes we observe. Sometimes we are visited by loved ones, sometimes by strangers. Sometimes we are at home in our dreams, sometimes we are in some distant, unknown-to-us land. Most dreams are commonplace, arising from our daily lives – the people and places we know or ones we have imagined.
On occasion, our dreams rise to an outstanding level of experience. These dreams seem to transcend the level of our other dreams. When recorded, these dreams read like epic dreams. They are personal myths that speak to meeting challenges in our lives or making progress in our understanding of the world. Here we find theme dreams including universal archetypes like heroes and adversaries, mother and father, teachers and students, parent and child, master and slave.
In his paper “Anyone Who Dreams Partakes in Shamanism” which he delivered as the keynote address at the 2009 International Association for the Study of Dreams conference, Dr. Stanley Krippner wrote,
"I have kept dream diaries since my days in high school, and on the night of September 18, 1958, while engaged in my graduate studies, I dreamed that I was back in Wisconsin, camping near Lake Ripley—a popular vacation spot near our farm. However, the dream took place before Europeans had arrived in the area; there were lush woods and wild animals in my dream, as well as a Native American who was painting a remarkable design on a piece of leather. The design portrayed deer, cougars, and snakes, all cohabiting in the forest. He beckoned me to take a closer look at the painting, and then I woke up.
In my extra-curricular readings, I had run across the term “shamans,” those socially designated practitioners who obtain information from their dreams and visions, sharing this knowledge with members of their community. I was convinced that this dream character was a shaman and hoped that I would meet one someday. I had to wait until 1967…" [read the complete paper online]

The Dream
I was by a pond with a few other men. There was a man who was bigger and older than the rest of us. The man told us that we each had to dive down into the pond to retrieve something, and we would take turns. He said we had to succeed, and there was some kind of unpleasant consequence if we failed. At least, I knew he had told us this, though I don’t remember him saying all the specific words. I think the pond had ice covering it. When it was my turn, I was optimistic and relaxed, concentrated and cautious, though I was worried earlier.
I dove down, and in the mud at the bottom, I saw a key, then another key. I grabbed them both and swam up again. I was gonna offer the second key for the next one of us to dive, and say I got it for him. Then I’m up on top of the pond again.
Dream Interpretation
I felt inspired and reassured after this dream. In a nutshell, I saw that things can be easier and simpler than I think, and I can do it. By just diving into what appeared like it would be a painful, difficult experience, I would find it’s not so hard and I would gain what I needed to have more freedom and opportunity.

My Dream:
I remember going into a spacecraft, as were many others, my mission was a beauty parlor for some reason. I went in and a lady put me in a state of the art blow dryer, it was big, I left and reported back to home base. Home base said this is the place where the polarities change, the beauty parlor will be crushed. So, people were fleeing the Earth because it was going to be destroyed. Then I saw in the sky asteroids coming toward us. They collided and left a huge hole in the ground. The beauty parlor was still there. There were a team of bad guys that came in on motorcycles, I fled because I knew they were after me. Everywhere I went, there those guys were. I found ways to escape, I even hid on top of a semi because the leader was looking for me. I went back to the beauty parlor and stood in the machine again. Then I saw it happening again, huge rocks coming in from the sky and colliding. Now I was getting a little scared, still it didn’t hit me. I needed to get out of here. I went back to the parlor and Dr. Barbara Condron and Dr. Daniel Condron (teachers) were there, Dr. Daniel was hungry and opened the refrigerator and started eating. I began to start making something for Dr. Daniel, I didn’t realize he was hungry. Then I woke.
The significance of this dream to my waking life:
This dream had a pretty big impact on my life. Since in this dream it talked about the destruction of the earth. I felt it was my duty to save the planet and the secret place where it all begins and ends is the beauty parlor. I had this dream on the fourteenth of August 2009. I have been living at the College of Metaphysics for about a month now and well into the summer. That night I had dream class and I shared this dream. Dr. Barbara Condron brought to my attention that night that this dream had a lot to do with my influence and why I’m here on earth at this point in time. I’ve thought about this a lot and at the time I had this dream I was contemplating what it meant to be and live Superconsciousness, I was literally hungry to know. I believe I understood my integral relationship to the whole and also my influence no matter how small I think it may be.
